Sophie Richardson | England
Sophie’s work explores the idea of personal heritage; objects and values we inherit or collect. She joined the M.A. having worked for major museums and became interested in using contemporary design to explore the impact of individuals’ heritage in their everyday lives. Her work is often colourful and bold and experiments with a range of media.
Since graduating Sophie has created her own brand collection of graphic homeware which is available to buy online. She also works full time for a design agency in London. |
Through the Graphic Arts M.A. Sophie honed a particular fascination for print design, encompassing illustration, typography, photography and pattern and working across textile and ceramic as well as paper forms such as books and large prints. Some research was conducted through film. Elements of hand drawing, sewing and other craft inspired techniques are combined with computer graphics to convey a contemporary perspective on her subjects, which are often domestic or historical.
